Had to share.
Da fuck…
Kay… Let’s help debunk some things. (This is mostly for myself.)
I love how the writer says that we have freedom of religion in respect to the Christian God and lists only various Christian sects as potential choices. This is magnified by the way Alice capitalizes the word God and by stating, “you must believe.” You can read up on the concept of Freedom of Religion on the Wikipedia page both in whole and it’s relation to the US. I’d also suggest reading this article to further elaborate on the myth that Freedom of Religion does not include freedom from it. It is also is interesting to note that some people believe atheism to be a religion, anyway. And if atheism is a religion (which it isn’t), wouldn’t it follow that having Freedom of Religion also applies to atheism in that situation?
Citing a reference to the phrase, “In God We Trust” is completely irrelevant to this argument. However, here’s a tidbit: it didn’t become our national motto until 1956, and it was printed on our currency on the year previous. More than likely, it was motivated by the second Red Scare. Check out this article for more information.
As for the rest, I am neither motivated or feel the need to debunk the rest of this flimsy argument. I think that most reasonable people can figure out the rest for themselves.
But, hey, free speech and all that jazz.
